A man who seriously injured his girlfriend in a crash caused by his dangerous driving has been jailed for three months.
Even though Timothy Mark Overend has shown great remorse and is still with the girl, Bingley Magistrates decided no other sentence was appropriate. Overend admitted dangerous driving in Harden Road, Long Lee, late last year.
Magistrates said: "The case involved prolonged and persistent dangerous driving at an excessive speed. The passenger, the defendant's girlfriend, suffered very serious injuries in the resulting accident. Even though the defendant has shown great remorse and is still in a relationship with the victim the court feels that only a custodial sentence is appropriate."
The girl is still being treated in hospital.
