FORMER Otley resident Doreen Sumner is hoping some old friends recognise their cheeky faces in this

picture in time for a summer reunion.

Mrs Sumner - nee Bickerdike - wants to invite as many of the class of 'around 1955' from the old North Parade School to her 60th birthday celebrations on Saturday, June 5.

Now living in Pontefract, where she and her husband moved just 18 months ago, Mrs Sumner said she knew of

several of her old classmates still living in Otley. She said: "I would really like to see as many of my old friends as possible and make my party a joint 60th and school reunion.

"I see quite a few familiar faces around the town and I hope they see this and get in touch with me."

Among the names - maiden names - Mrs Sumner can remember on the photograph are: Madelaine Lee, Muriel Dickinson, Margaret Godley, Beryl Hitch, Joan Ackroyd, Sylvia Cheetham, Sylvia Day, Irene Cooke, Irene Wilson, Florence Moorhouse, Maureen Crossley, Jean Shaw, Irene Raistrick, Ann Rawlings, Alan Lancaster, Alan Marriot, Malcolm Davies and Malcolm Laker.

The class teacher was a Mr Varty.

Anyone who recognises themselves should contact Mrs Sumner - whose party will be held at the Pool Paper Mills Social Club, with buffet and disco from 7pm - at 10 Hailhead Drive, Pontefract, West Yorkshire WF8 2HU. Telephone (01977) 793046.
