DOUGIE LAMPKIN will take on the world trials elite in the third round of the outdoor championship this weekend -- aiming to keep his 100 per cent record.
The Silsden rider is dominating the competition to such a degree that it has taken on the old 'Tarres Factor' when the Spanish multi-champion could not be beaten.
After two world championship victories, Lampkin turned his attention to the British championship last weekend, when he swept to victory in Northern Ireland.
His only serious challenger was Steve Colley of the Isle of Man who was the only other rider to stay in single figures. Colley dropped four marks on the second lap, the best of the day.
Teenager Martin Crosswaite, from Bingley, snatched third place from world ranked number four Graham Jarvis. Former Haworth rider Wayne Braybrook was also in the thick of the action in seventh place.
n Manchester rider Derek Brookes beat Yorkshire Classic Motor Club expert Barry Pickard at Slippery Ford, Oakworth, on Saturday when the club held its first spring trial of the year.
Denholme's Norman Pickles took the top award on the easy course on his 40-year-old James machine, Donald Bridge was second, just one point behind.
Richard Baldwin of Keighley took fourth place in the open class while Cullingworth's Dave Lovell took his Matchless machine to third place behind Donald Bridge.
