If you are interested in popular films of yesteryear, like Africa Screams, Wrong Arm of the Law and It's a Wonderful Life, but find it virtually impossible to get hold of them, then Bygone Videos could come to your rescue.
Malcolm Thorn, of Cross Hills, is starting a new business - Bygone Videos - which sells popular films of the past to the public.
He decided to start the business when his friend suggested the idea because of his passion for old and popular videos. Mr Thorn is particularly interested in Charlie Chaplin, Abbott and Costello and silent movies. His awareness of how hard it is to come by some of these videos urged him to put this idea into practice.
He started looking into his business idea five months ago, and he soon discovered that this will be a pioneering business venture in this country. At present he claims to have the largest collection of old film titles on file.
Mr Thorn, 38, was born in Greenwich, and grew up in Peterborough. He spent 13 years in the British Army which he served as a corporal. He was posted all over the world during his time in service, but he decided to leave the Army in 1992.
Another motivation for starting the business was the difficulty in finding a job - he has been made redundant five times in the past seven years.
Bygone Videos will be a mail-order retail facility and each customer will receive a monthly magazine which lists the films that are available to buy.
