A cheque for £10,000 was handed over on Sunday to a bone-marrow trust which is helping to save the life of a Keighley youngster.
Six-year-old Jack Gales, who has leukaemia, presented the cheque to Vanessa Hemingway, regional manager of the Anthony Nolan Bone Marrow Trust, at half-time during Keighley Cougars' rugby league home game against Widnes.
The money will be put towards finding potential bone marrow donors and registering all those who have given blood to help people like Jack, who has recently undergone a course of chemotherapy and radiotherapy.
Family and friends set a target of £10,000 in their fight to save this Jack's life. Cash was raised, within six months, through donations, fundraising events and auctions. A tin shake was also held on the day by friends of the family which collected £290.
Jack's mum Kate, 36, who attended the presentation with her ten-year-old daughter Fiona, says: "The support we have had has been amazing. It was a fantastic day and was even better when the Cougars won the match. Jack loves it down there."
Jack, of High Meadow, Shann Park, was first diagnosed with leukaemia in 1995. A bone-marrow match has not yet been found.
