New houses could be built in Cowling.

Britannia Developments has put in a planning application to Craven council to build 12 new houses on Keighley Road.

A second application proposes to build four homes on New Road Side.

The Britannia proposal would be an extension to the existing housing development presently being constructed on the site, known as Acre Meadow. It lies within Cowling Conservation Area and the Special Landscape Area identified in the draft South Craven Local Plan and is outside the village development limits.

Cowling parish council has said it cannot comment on the proposal until it has seen the plans.

Highways officers have not objected to the plans. But the council has received one letter objecting to the scheme on the grounds of increased traffic and noise.

The New Road Side application refers to land off Lincrag Gardens. Cowling parish council has expressed concerns over access to the site, one which is not one designated for housing on the Local Plan.

Highways officers have recommended refusal due to poor visibility at the junction of Lincrag Gardens and the A6068.

Other objections include a lack of parking spaces, loss of light, and a reduction in house values.

Outline planning consent is sought for both applications.

Craven planners have recommended refusal of both applications.

The applications will be discussed and decided on at Monday's Craven council planning meeting to be held in the council chamber, Granville Street, Skipton at 1.30pm.
