A stress-busting homeopath hired by a Bradford law firm has helped boost productivity and cut employee absences.

Jane Brown is a familiar sight at the Piccadilly offices of Bridger and Co and has helped cure ailments from skin and back problems, to insomnia and ear infections.

Now Mrs Brown and two fellow homeopaths are offering other Bradford firms a six-month trial to show how their alternative therapies can improve efficiency.

Mrs Brown said: "Homeopathy can help to increase worker motivation and you find people get on better with each other. It can be used to treat almost anything.

"I've been working at Bridger's for about two years now and the first six months were very busy. A lot of people came to me with health problems they had suffered for years."

Homeopathic remedies are created from animal, plant and mineral products. They are prescribed to work in sympathy with the symptoms of an ailment.

The cost for treating the 20 staff at Bridger and Co is met by owner Alan Bridger - who got the idea from his brother who is a homeopath.

He said: "I have never heard of it being used at other law firms. It's important to know that staff are being looked after and it gives people an opportunity to get stuff off their chest.

"Jane spends a good hour discussing what's going on emotionally and physically. Just talking about it helps some people.

"I want my people to feel valued and looked after and that has benefits for the whole firm which is translated financially."

Mr Bridger said absenteeism had fallen dramatically at the practice since homeopathy had been introduced.

Now Mrs Brown, who has practised homeopathy from her home in Headingley, Leeds, for five years, is hoping to attract more custom from other Bradford firms by offering a reduced rate.
