Two motorcyclists and a pedestrian died in three separate accidents over the weekend.

A motorcyclist died and his female pillion passenger was severely injured in a crash near the The Flappit pub junction, Haworth, on Saturday afternoon.

Police said the dead man was David Andrew Maskell, 39, an unemployed driver who lived alone at Albion Street, Cross Roads, Keighley. His pillion passenger was Bernice Reeve, of Fairfield, Denholme.

Hours earlier, a motorcyclist died after he was thrown from his machine into the path of an oncoming car on the A650 Westgate Hill Street, Westgate Hill.

He has been named as Callum Andrew Parry, 38, of Sandal, Wakefield, who was travelling towards Drighlington when he was in collision with a Vauxhall Astra van.

Police have also named a young woman who died in the early hours of Saturday after walking into the path of a car in Bradford. She was 18-year-old Charlene Marie Goody, of Buttershaw.

The accident happened just before midnight close to the Beehive pub in Halifax Road, Buttershaw.

Police said she had been drinking with a group of young people in the nearby Waggoner's Inn.

A fight later started outside and the police were called.

A spokesman said: "At the time, officers were in attendance at a reported disturbance when the girl was seen to walk into the road and was in collision with a car.

"She sustained serious injuries and was taken to Bradford Royal Infirmary where she was later pronounced dead."

PC Christopher Lawson, of Odsal traffic police, who is investigating the motorbike accident on the A650, said: "A van made a right turn out of a side road and made contact with the motorcyclist. Contact was then made with a Mitsubishi Carisma, which has unfortunately resulted in fatal injuries."

Meanwhile, police are seeking witnesses to the other accident which occurred at about 3pm as the couple travelled from Denholme towards Keighley.

The condition of the injured woman was described as stable at Airedale Hospital today.

Nigel Heseltine, an electrical engineer, who lives near the scene, said: "It looks like he braked hard, pulled into the side and clipped the kerb."

He tried to resuscitate the man before the emergency services arrived.

Anyone who saw the accident is asked to telephone Keighley Police on (01535) 617047.
