Brothers Frank and John Walsh turned a well-known phrase on its head when they were thinking of names for their new Bradford business.
Now a year down the road Drain Brain UK, based in Eccleshill, has expanded so much it is looking at a £1 million turnover by this time next year.
The company, based in Leeds Road, has taken on 12 workers and has five Drain Brain vans. The co-owners have succeeded because of their own knowledge of drain clearance and plumbing.
The firm, which includes many of the brothers' family members on its books, is also looking at adding ten vans to the fleet and employing a further 15 people a year from now.
Co-director Frank Walsh said: "We called it Drain Brain because we have put a lot more thought and knowledge into clearing out drains than other people have."
He said customer care was the firm's main priority and the firm put a lot of emphasis in making sure its staff were highly-trained and skilled people.
The firm clears industrial and domestic drain blockages and repairs damaged pipes. It also has a range of closed circuit television cameras which it uses to take a look at some drains before they are cleaned.
The firm's major contract is with Yorkshire Water Home Services which provides a repair service for home appliances which go wrong.
The contract allowed the firm to take on a couple of extra vans and new high pressure water jetting units which the firm uses to clear blockages from foul or storm drains.
The company also uses high pressure gas equipment which is used to clear blockages from toilets and sinks.
