Darren Moore was today celebrating after winning a top PFA award.

The giant central defender, who was 25 last week, was the only Bradford City player named in the PFA First Division side.

The divisional teams and the other awards were announced at the PFA's annual dinner at London last night.

Every year PFA members pick what they think is the best team in their divisions and Moore said: "I am delighted with the award. It is superb because to be nominated by your fellow professionals goes a long way with me.

"They have obviously respected what I have done all season.

"I also regard it as an honour for the whole squad at Bradford City and I thank the players, management and staff at Valley Parade.

"It's been a great season no matter what happens from now."

Ironically, the award was presented the day after Moore was left out of City's side at QPR in favour of John Dreyer.

Moore had missed only one match before that - through suspension - but he had no complaints at manager Paul Jewell's decision.

He said: "The manager made the right decision to leave me out. I was disappointed because I was up for the game and I wanted to put things right after last week's home defeat by Huddersfield Town. That defeat left a bitter taste.

"But the manager came to my room on Saturday morning and said he felt I wasn't on top of my game. You have got to respect that judgement."
