Defender John Dreyer insists Bradford City still have a lot to do if they are to earn automatic promotion despite reclaiming second place in the First Division over the weekend.

The Bantams chalked up a fine 3-1 victory at QPR and thanks to Ipswich's shock 2-1 defeat at home to bottom club Crewe, Paul Jewell's men are now in the top two.

The weekend's results mean City will be promoted if they win their final two games of the season, at home to Oxford on Saturday and away to Wolves the following week. Ipswich must travel to Birmingham next Sunday before entertaining Sheffield United on the final day of the season.

Dreyer made an impressive return to the heart of the City defence and was delighted to be part of such a vital victory. However he has urged caution ahead of the final two games.

He said: "It was good to be back. I don't think we have won too many games in London since I came to the club.

"Results wise the day could not have gone any better. Personally, I like to keep clean sheets so I was disappointed with their goal. To be honest, none of us can believe how it went with Ipswich losing but we must not get carried away. Nothing has been settled yet.

"We must make sure these results count this time. We cannot afford any more slip-ups. We must go for it and maybe, just maybe, we might make it."

Dreyer was recalled to the side in place of Darren Moore, who was rested by manager Paul Jewell.

The veteran defender said: "The manager had a word with Darren early on Saturday. I didn't know I was in until I saw the team but felt I might be involved. It was enjoyable to play in-- I prefer it where the pressure is on because I thrive on it.

"I wasn't sure what was happening at Ipswich because the noise from our fans was loud anyway. It was Gary Walsh who told me when I came back for corners that Ipswich were losing."

Peter Beagrie and Ashley Westwood grabbed the opening two goals for City before Watson sealed the game with a fine individual effort in stoppage time.

The delighted City striker paid tribute after the game to the team spirit among the City players.

Watson said: "The celebrations after my goal when I was under a pile of bodies shows how together the team are and how hard we work.

"We got our just desserts. I knew Ipswich were losing 2-1 when I went on to field and I could not have asked for it to go any better."
