Service at an Ilkley bank may not get back to normal for months following the collapse of a 40ft wall, it has been revealed.
David Roberts, the manager of the landmark Lloyds Bank in Ilkley town centre, has said it could be several months before normal service can be resumed after the rear wall of the building collapsed on Tuesday night sending tons of stone crashing to the ground destroying outbuildings.
An investigation into the cause of the collapse is continuing today.
Mr Roberts said: "It certainly makes for an eventful day when half of your bank is missing - but yesterday went remarkably well considering. I've been delighted by all the help I've had from our staff and from all the support services here.
"With the water damage and the loss of our computer system it could be a while before we get back to normal."
Cages and wire fencing are being installed around the wall and props and scaffolding were being installed today making the area safe before rebuilding work can begin.
Mr Roberts said that Lloyds property Services were taking full responsibility for repairs to the building and hoped to have a basic banking service operating from the lobby by Tuesday.
