Police were today waiting to interview a teenager who was found with serious head injuries at the side of the road in the early hours.
The 18-year-old from the Keighley area was discovered on the roadside at Steeton at 1.30am.
The teenager, who has not been named, was found on the road outside Aireburn Garage, Skipton Road.
He was spotted by a passing taxi driver, who alerted the emergency services, and was taken to Airedale General Hospital and later transferred to Leeds General Infirmary, where nursing staff described his condition as 'serious'.
Keighley police have issued an appeal for witnesses, urging anyone with information about the incident come forward.
A West Yorkshire Police spokesman said: "We believe he may have been involved in a road accident, but enquiries are on-going as to how he received the injuries.
Anyone with information should contact Keighley police on (01535) 617059.
