A grieving girlfriend today begged the public to help police solve the riddle of her teenage fiance's death.
Sarah Marklew, 14, joined Stuart Lister's mum Christine in making a heartfelt plea for information about how the 18-year-old was left for dead on the roadside at Steeton during the early hours of Saturday.
Stuart lost his fight for life on Tuesday afternoon.
Sarah, who said they had got engaged just before Christmas and had been planning to marry when she was 16, revealed: "It's devastated us all. So many people cared for Stuart and he was really popular. It's just such a shock to think he was here last week but not this week.
"We just want anyone with any information to come forward, even if they don't think it matters and it's only to say they saw him crossing the street at a certain time and place."
Christine Lister said the whole family had been shattered by Stuart's death.
Fighting back the tears to make a heartfelt plea for anyone with information to come forward she said: "We just want to know what happened to Stuart and how someone could leave him like that.''
Police say they still have an open mind about what caused the head injuries which killed Stuart who was found by the Aireburn Garage in Skipton Road at 1.30am on Saturday but it is believed he may have fallen off or from a vehicle. Floral tributes have been placed at the scene.
Officers have today revealed that CCTV footage shows Stuart walking out of Oscars nightclub in Keighley at 1.04am, crossing the A6035 Worth Way/East Parade and walking towards Hanover Street.
But exactly how, when and from where Stuart, of Thornhill Road, Steeton, left the town to return home remains a mystery.
Anyone with information about the incident should call 01535 617059.
