A 27-year-old man who fell 30 feet from a roof as he tried to evade police has died in
hospital.
The Bradford man, not yet named, suffered serious head injuries after falling from the third-storey roof of a flat in Granville Road, Frizinghall.
He was found by officers unconscious in the back yard of the property.
The man was taken to Bradford Royal Infirmary and later transferred to the intensive care unit at Leeds Infirmary, where he died last night.
The incident happened on Sunday morning when officers from Eccleshill Police arrived in Granville Road to speak to two men wanted in connection with burglary, who were thought to be in the flat.
As they knocked on the front door, the 27-year-old man, and a 21-year-old, fled from a back attic bedroom and across the roof.
Officers spoke to the occupier of the flat then drove away and found the 21-year-old suspect in Granville Road, looking dazed and shocked.
He led the officers to the 27-year-old.
Coroner Roger Whittaker has been informed of the man's death and an inquest is expected to be opened next week.
Two men, aged 21 and 24, were later arrested for questioning in connection with the burglary investigation. They were released on police bail pending further inquiries.
