Former Valley Parade favourite Dean Richards is hoping Bradford City win a place in the Premiership - providing it is not at the expense of his current club Wolves.

The Bradford-born 24-year-old is set to face the Bantams in Sunday's crunch clash at Molineux where a victory for Paul Jewell's men would clinch a place among English football's elite.

However Wolves are also desperate for victory in their battle to win a place in the end-of-season play-offs at the expense of Bolton or Watford.

Victory for City would end those hopes for seventh-placed Wolves but Richards remains confident ahead of the weekend.

The defender stressed it would not be a case of his Bradford team going up without him before adding: "I have a lot of friends who are Bradford supporters and it is ironic that Bradford could now be going up.

"I left them to come here but time has moved on and the only player that is still there is Wayne Jacobs.

"My loyalties are with Wolves but I have supported Bradford since I was a kid. I have played more games for Wolves now than I did for Bradford and I consider this my home.

"My family and my girlfriend's family are Bradford supporters so I know full well what the situation is with them trying to go up.

"But I would be sick if we missed out. I would like to see Bradford go up as long as it is at the expense of somebody else."

City comfortably beat Wolves 2-1 when the two sides met at Valley Parade earlier this season on an afternoon when Lee Mills and Robbie Blake were in scintillating form.

The pair grabbed a goal apiece and City will be hoping for more of the same on Sunday.

However Richards said: "I have played against Lee Mills before, mainly when he was at Port Vale. Bradford's strike pairing will suit me and Keith Curle."

The Wolves defender looks set for a move away from Molineux this summer when he will be available on a free transfer under the Bosman Ruling.

Liverpool and Newcastle have been strongly linked with a move for the defender who cost Wolves £1.85 million.

However Richards says his mind is focused on Sunday's game only. "My inspiration is trying to do well for Wolves. That is only fair on the other lads and myself. Everything else goes to the back of my mind."
