A TOTAL of 35 entries have been received for the Frank Mitchell Individual Merit to be played at West Bradford Bowling Club on Sunday, May 9, starting at 10.30 am.

Bowlers from Baildon, Oxenhope, Yeadon's Rufford Park, Yeadon Park, Bingley Glen, Ilkley, Myrtle Park, Shipley Club, Wayside and West Bradford will compete.

Local bowlers include J Thompson, H Rodgers, M Cunningham, D Kirkbright, S Barrie, G Barrie (Rufford Park); D Wise, H Wise (Yeadon Park); S Beaumont (Ilkley).

MONTEITH CUP

The final of the Monteith Cup will take place at Yeadon Park on Sunday starting at 11 am. Sponsored by Hollins Hill Car Sales the event will be contested by 16 finalists. They are: Martin Benson (Rufford), Andy Durkin (Guiseley), Denis Firth (Greenbottom), Lynette Hall (Guiseley), Val Motterhead (Greenbottom), Graham Orchard (Guiseley), Michael Stocks (Yeadon Park), Derek Sutcliffe (Greenbottom), Norman Cooper (Rufford), Jim Fell (Rawdon), Grace Haigh (Rawdon), Derek Land (Rawdon), Dorothy Newton (Tarnfield), Frank Robinson (Yeadon Park), Betty Sutcliffe (Greenbottom) and Betty Wright (Rawdon).

This is the 47th annual staging of the competition which was resurrected last year by organiser Frank Robinson.

The first round of the Airedale and Wharfedale team cup competitions takes place on Tuesday, May 11, when both the Wheatley Trophy and the League Cup get underway.

The draw for the Wheatley Trophy is - Ilkley A v Rufford B at Grove Hill, Tarnfield A v Guiseley B at Rawdon, Greenbottom A v Wharfemeadows at Burley-in-Wharfedale.

In the League Cup the draw is - Yeadon Park v Calverley at Hall Park.
