Silsden 3 Colne Cricket Club 1
Silsden added to their trophy haul at Gargrave on Tuesday as expected but not without spirited resistance from Colne who had they converted a couple of early chances could have quite easily caused an upset.
On a cold evening and with a strong wind blowing down the pitch they started the better and made the early openings, but Silsden settled and put the Colne defence under pressure. However neither side was able to score in the first half.
The second half started with Silsden quickly on the attack and it was not long before Jimmy Hedges rounded off good work with the opening goal. Colne then defended stoutly but could not stop Hedges getting his side's second goal. With nothing now to lose Colne pushed forward and had Silsden on the defensive and a late penalty converted by Neil Moulding gave them hope.
But within minutes of the restart Andy Holden restored Silsden's two-goal advantage and they held on to their lead to the final whistle.
The trophy and individual mementoes were presented by competition sponsor Mr Paul Watson.
In the Keighley Cup Final at Steeton on Friday Silsden lost 5-0 to county cup semi-finalists Phoenix.
