Burley U-12s 15
Wilsden 2
BURLEY recorded their highest win in the Craven League first division against a Wilsden side that had won promotion with the Juniors last year but are now relegated after a season without a win.
The gulf between the sides in class was emphasised by the margin of the win and the style in which it was achieved.
Burley broke the back of a short resistance inside five minutes with goals from Joe Mazurke and Peter Swann. Scoring at regular intervals until half-time, the whistle must have come as a relief to the hard pressed Wilsden defence, as the Juniors turned around eight-nil up.
The second-half started where the Juniors had left off as more goals followed. The score sheet being Alan Salter (five), David Mulligan (two), Joe Mazurke (two), Laurence Harriman (two), Peter Swann, John Palmer, Jack Bloomer and David Thomas one each. The pick must go to Palmers and Salters headers from two fine crosses.
Man of the Match went to a player not on the score sheet but whose mazy dribbles through the Wilsden team set up many of the goals, Jim Hunter.
