OTLEY Town produced some fine all-round cricket to beat last year's Hepworth Cup winners Leeds Police by seven wickets.
Nick McNeice made the early breakthrough with 2-13 before retiring with a groin strain after five overs. The remaining wickets were shared out with Matthew Bates taking 2-24 and Kevin Connolly mopping up the tail with 4-27.
Perhaps the best spell, however, was 14 overs from Johnny McGee who was unlucky not to have a better return than 2-48. All the bowlers were aided by some fine catching.
Had it not been for the disproportionate 40 extras, including 20 no balls, Town's task would have been much simpler.
An unbroken spell of slow left-arm from Andy Conboy made things difficult for Town in the early stages and they soon found themselves in some difficulty at 24-2.
However, this brought Jonty Maston in to join Australian Darren Hall and the pair soon took complete control with a stand of 131. Maston was dismissed within three runs of the target for 53 but Hall went on to complete a superb unbeaten 81 to give Town a comprehensive victory.
Champions Woodhouse are still waiting for their first league win after Pool hung on in a drawn game. The visitors made 200 but Chris Wilkinson lacked support as he took 7-59. Pool made no attempt to go for the runs and finished on 132-5 with Steve Wood making an unbeaten 43 and D Tidmarsh 35.
In Division Two Pool Mills registered a seven wickets win over New Rover who were dismissed for 174 as Ray Smith returned 3-43, Mills were always in control with Clive Baldwin hitting an unbeaten 61 and Darren Lyons 48.
Ben Rhydding are enjoying their sojourn into the Leeds League and they notched up another win when they entertained Caribbean. Ben Rhydding made 163-5 with Andrew Jennings hitting 58 and L Smith 55. Caribbean then fell for 109 as Jennings completed a good day with a return of 3-15 and R Horner took a superb 7-28.
Olicanians just failed to match the big Oulton score of 256-6 in a match which did the Second Division proud. Oulton's Keith McDonald hit his biggest score in 23 years when he became the league's first century maker of the season.
The 39 year-old struck16 fours in a fine unbeaten 134 and he was well into his innings before he offered a chance. He was well supported by Russ Hunt who made 51. Fletcher returned 3-57 for the Ilkley side.
Stuart Firth headed Olicanians' response with a fine 82 and he was well supported by J Cox with 52 and Anthony Shirley with 42 but they could not maintain the challenge and fell for 235.
