It was the stuff dreams are made of.
In Campbell's Bar, in the heart of Valley Parade, 100 devoted and expectant fans clung to every moment of the excruciating road to Premiership glory.
For every split second of a nail-biting 90 minutes, their emotions were on a rollercoaster ride from despair to hope and, finally, to the belief that the day truly belonged to Bradford City.
There were moments when that golden automatic promotion place seemed beyond the team's reach and fans sat with their heads in their hands, barely able to comprehend that a place in the top flight of English football might slip from City's grasp.
As City battled back with a hat-trick of goals from heroes Beagrie, Mills and Blake, fevered fans punched the air in joy.
And, when the final whistle sounded, the party so many had been waiting for commenced in full flow.
Jubilant City fan Matthew Gaffney, 21, said: "I'm ecstatic. That game just summed up everything about City's season. The lads have done fantastic, you couldn't have asked for more.''
Gary Walker, 39, an engineer and a City fan for 25 years, wept as the final whistle blew. "It's the fourth best day of my life and I've been married and had two kids," he said.
Scott Davey, 30, from East Bowling, added: "I've waited 22 years for this. My dad's waited 44 years and he'll be so proud."
