The Bull Mastiff that scarred a six-year-old boy for life after savaging him outside his home has been destroyed, it was learned today.
Allan Sproat was "shaken around like a rag doll" by the giant dog and needed 19 stitches after he was attacked as he sat on a wall in Walker Drive, Girlington.
Yesterday Toller Lane police questioned a middle-aged woman on suspicion of allowing a dangerous dog to roam.
Chief Inspector Des Broster said officers had traced the Bull Mastiff to a new owner in Leeds.
He said once the owner was told about the animal's history, he agreed to take it to a vet to be put down, which was witnessed by an officer.
Chief Insp Broster added: "There is a file going to the Crown Prosecution Service, who will decide what action to take."
Allan's mother Carol said her son had his stitches taken out yesterday but was in a lot of pain and still off school.
