MAJOR awards have been distributed to successful competitors at the 56th Horsforth Competitive Festival of Music, Drama and Dance.
The Illingworth award of £200 to the most promising competitor in each of the three sections went to:
Dance section - Melissa-Leigh McKenny of Rothwell; drama - Sarah Earnshaw of Leeds; music - Kathryn Fish, who plays the flute and won the open woodwind class and took part in groups.
The Wilford Horsforth award to the Horsforth competitor gaining the highest mark in the music classes was awarded to Matthew Whitham. Matthew also won the Wellesley Trophy and the Pianoforte Challenge Cup.
Due to ill-health Christine Clegg has resigned as dance secretary, a position she has held for ten years.
