GREEN LANE, new members of the Millet Printers Evening Cricket League, let down the other ten member clubs with their last minute withdrawal from the competition.
They threw the first week's fixtures into confusion on a day which was also spoiled by late evening rain. Green Lane's withdrawal left Baildon without a game.
In the four matches that were possible established club Farsley were shocked by a deafeat by last season's Dales Council League champions Meanwood who are new to the Millet League this season.
Another new club Pudsey Congs looked on their way to their first taste of victory at home to Khalsa when rain interfered and New Farnley's first encounter in the league - at home to Hall Park- also fell victim to the weather.
Adel cantered to a win at nearby St Chad's who have also entered the competition for the first time.
Khalsa 109-8; Pudsey Congs 42-3. Match abandoned.
New Farnley 94-2; Hall Park 19-2 . Match abandoned.
Meanwood 79-6; Farsley 67. Meanwood won by 12 runs.
St Chad's 93-9; Adel 97-3. Adel won by seven wickets.
Matches tonight, Thursday, are - Baildon v Meanwood, Farsley v New Farnley, Hall Park v St Chad's, Pudsey St Lawrence v Pudsey Congs.
