Children have been raising funds for the Kosovo refugees.
Caring schoolgirl Hannah Smith cut out sweets for a fortnight to boost the appeal.
Hannah, 11, of Shaw Lane, Oxenhope, raised £60 through sponsorship by chopping chocolate from the menu.
"My mum said we were going to give some clothes for the refugees and I wanted to do something to help," says Hannah, a pupil at Hartington School, Haworth. "I saw the pictures on television and it made me very sad. I kept eating fruit but cut out other things with sugar, such as chocolate and sweets. It was very difficult but I was glad I managed it."
Meanwhile, pupils and staff at Keighley's Oakbank School dressed in their worst tie creations to raise money for the appeal. Spots, stripes, sequins and bright colours were donned as those who took part gave £1 each to the appeal.
Year nine pupil Aaron Hollindrake took the prize for the most terrible tie while Samantha Frobisher, also year nine, came tops in the most inventive section. Teacher Wendy Richardson won the staff award.
Teacher Julie Hart, who helped organise the event, says the event raised around £150.
