A Yeadon man drove after drinking to remonstrate with his 14-year-old daughter who was addicted to heroin.

Colin Richard Storke, 45, of Shaw Royd, pleaded guilty at Leeds Magistrates Court to driving while over the legal limit for alcohol consumption and to driving without insurance.

Magistrates were told that on April 14 this year, uniformed police officers had gone to Henshaw Oval at Yeadon and had seen Storke with two other people, his brother and his sister-in-law.

Prosecutor Naheed Hussain said: "He was asked if he had driven there and he replied he had driven there but wasn't driving back.

"It was clear he was intoxicated."

A breath test on Storke had shown 110 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath, with the legal limit being 35.

Mrs Hussain said: "He said his daughter had refused to come home for about three weeks and was living at Henshaw Oval and he had gone there to try and talk to her.

"He said he had drunk four or five pints before and had gone to that address.

"He said he knew he was stupid to have driven and got his brother to meet him there."

Storke was given a six-month probation order, was disqualified from driving for two years and for driving without insurance was fined £145 plus, £40 costs.

In mitigation, Philip Morris said that Storke had been trying to resolve problems with his 14-year-old daughter.

He said: "She is suffering from a heroin addiction which is causing difficulties in the home.

"The backdrop to this offence was that she had run away from home.

"That was something Mr and Mrs Storke were unhappy with.

"As a result of a heated telephone conversation with his daughter, he took the view to go up there and remonstrate with the person with whom she was living.

"Unfortunately he decided to do that in drink.

"It seems he is seeking some solace in drink."
