Motor Sport: Professional road racer David Jefferies stamped his authority on the North West 200 motor-cycle road races near Coleraine.
He rode his V&M R1 and R6 Yamaha machines to double victories in the title events, shattering the lap record in the 750cc class and the winning the Formula 600cc event.
David, from Baildon, was timed at 188mph at one point, set a blistering 122mph lap record and defeated multi-TT winner and local Ulster ace Phillip McCallen.
"Everything went fine. The 600cc race was tight. One-tenth of a second was the margin when the flag fell - it will probably be one of the toughest races this year," said David's dad Tony.
Less than five metres separated first and second at the chequered flag.
The Mobil 1 Superbike race was reduced by a lap following an accident, but Jefferies held off strong challenges from his team-mate Ian Duffus and Jim Moodie (Honda UK RC 45).
Duffus edged ahead at one point before Jefferies battled back, even after dislocating his left knee - an old motorcross injury - during the race. He clicked it back into place before taking the lead again.
Jefferies' third win of the day came in the CP Hire NW 200 Superbike race, although Moodie pushed him all the way.
"I've been trying to win here since 1994, and to win all three is absolutely brilliant," said Jefferies.
Guiseley autotest ace David Mosey set the standard in the Inter Association Autotest team event at Gaydon, Warwickshire, setting fastest time and leading the Association of Northern Car Club's trio to third spot behind West Midlands and Wessex.
Ilkley member Graham Hepworth from Otley was second in class in his Nova. Hepworth motored home, then took part in the Dunford Rally near Doncaster with co-driver Iain Tullie, where they finished ninth.
Cookridge trials rider James Dabill won Class B in the YMSA third round Youth Trials Championship at Two Dales, Derbyshire, from Roundhay rider Dane Sherwin.
Dabill now has three rounds under his belt, and his reward is a new GasGas bike.
The Larkspeed Championship series moves to Green Syke Farm at Laycock this weekend where some 14 Northern motor clubs pitch their teams into the Airedale and Pennine Motor Club's Production Car Trial.
Ilkley head the championship chase and start as firm favourites to increase their lead in the points table.
Dabill, Henry Moorhouse, Sam Ludgate, Liam Walker and Sherwin will head south for Sunday's National Class A and B Youth Championship at West Horsley.
It is the fourth in the series and Charnock's Shaun Morris leads Class A from Pontefract lad Ludgate, with Leeds youth Moorhouse one point behind.
In Class B, Dabill is fourth, Sherwin is sixth and Moorhouse needs a win on Sunday to get within striking distance.
Dougie in Welsh tester
World and British motorcycle trials champion Dougie Lampkin won the second round of the Talon British Trials Championship at Pontypool in South Wales.
"It was a good trial, but it did rain at the end of the first lap," said the 23-year-old from Silsden.
"Those Welsh rocks get very slippery very quickly. I was careful and lost one mark on the first lap and three on the second. Then the rocks dried out and I managed a clean ride on the last lap."
Lampkin now holds maximum points after two qualifying rounds over Steve Colley and Graham Jarvis.
Colley has edged to second in the points ahead of Jarvis.
Martin Crosswaite weighed in with another good result, and that puts the Bingley rider in a very strong fourth spot in the championship chase.
Haworth's Wayne Braybrook and Dan Clark took sixth and seventh behind Twickenham's Sam Connor.
The Expert class went to local man Lee Sargent, with Ulster visitor Andy Perry and Sheffield's Dan Thorpe challenging for the top spot. Silsden's James Lampkin was fourth and holds second spot in the class.
