Residents in Pool have been concerned for some time about dangers on the road.

Pool Parish Council clerk Betty Swift, said: "We've had great concern about this area for a long time. We've had lots of small incidents there before but never a fatality."

One Pool resident, who saw the aftermath of the accident, said: "It was a terrible accident and we've been concerned about the area for a long time. It's a very busy junction and a real pinch point on the village main street. It's the narrowest point on the road and there's a lot of heavy traffic goes through there. We feel it's a very dangerous situation we've got here and it's been going on for years."
