Darren Gough is reaping the rewards of family life as England chase World Cup glory.
The Yorkshire paceman raced back from England's victory over Kenya at Canterbury on Tuesday evening, driven by physiotherapist Wayne Morton, to ensure he could enjoy a deserved day off with wife Anna Marie and young sons Liam and Brennan in Ossett.
It is not an option available to the other 11 teams and Gough, who arrived at his Yorkshire home in the early hours of Wednesday morning, is convinced it is having a major bearing on the vibrant team spirit helping England make an impressive start.
"People have a choice whether to go home or not," explained Gough. "It's up to the individual, but I prefer to spend my day off away from cricket and hotel life.
