Ilkley Community Fund is preparing to dig into its coffers and provide a boost to groups dedicated to their community.

Established in 1994, the fund promotes and supports worthwhile projects which are solely for the benefit of the community in the Ilkley district (Ilkley, Addingham, Burley-in-Wharfedale and Menston).

In the past year the fund, which receives its income from trusts, legacies and private donations, has helped numerous groups. This has included £200 for new kit for Burley Juniors Football Club, £300 for Bolling Road First School's After School Care Club, £300 to the Ilkley Up-Stagers Theatre Group and £400 to the Ilkley in Bloom team.

Geoffrey Vere, fund chairman, said: "Applications will be considered to assist community-based activities which will be of benefit to the community. Bids from new groups or previously unfunded groups will be encouraged."

The maximum allocation grant from the Fund would not normally exceed £200 for any one application, although the amount allocated is at the discretion of the trustees.

The organisation or group should be non-profit making where membership is open.

Mr Vere said: "Grants are awarded on the understanding that publicity can be given to projects and used by us in furtherance of our work."

Applications should be made on the relevant form which can be obtained (and then returned) to: Ilkley Community Fund, 7 South Hawks-worth Street, Ilkley LS29 9DX. Telephone 01943 608345.

Applications must be received no later than Monday, June 21. The same date applies to those groups applying to the Elderly Fund (where money is intended to benefit elderly people).
