A £5,000 reward was offered today as detectives revealed they have found the getaway car involved in an armed raid at a Bradford bank.

The reward is being put up by Securicor, after one of its guards was robbed at gunpoint outside the Yorkshire Bank.

The blue D-registered Ford Sierra used in the raid was seen by a member of the public in Aberdeen Place, a few hundred yards from the site of Friday's robbery in Great Horton Road. It was reported after an appeal in the Telegraph & Argus.

Forensic experts have tested the vehicle, registration number D52 PRJ. It was bought privately two months ago by somebody who used a false name and address.

Detective Sergeant Billy Murdoch, of Odsal CID, said: "Our inquiries show it was sold privately and in good faith by a mechanic in the Idle area on March 17. It could be that the vehicle has been stashed away somewhere in the Bradford area prior to the robbery.

"We would also appeal to anyone who saw the car being parked in Aberdeen Place - it is possible that we are looking for a second getaway car."

Police have already issued an E-fit picture of the gunman, who escaped with a five figure sum.

He pointed a handgun at the guard and ordered him to put the cash box on the ground.

After seizing the box he ran off down Great Horton Road, through Great Horton Methodist Church yard and escaped with two other people in the Sierra.

Police describe the robber as white, in his 40s, stocky, with short, brown hair. He had a plump face and wore a three-quarter-length dark jacket and dark-rimmed glasses.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Odsal CID on Bradford 376659 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
