Both Skipton and Silsden made their exit from the Waddilove Cup in the second round on Sunday, leaving Steeton - who had a bye through to the quarter-finals where they are away to Burley - the only local team left in.

In reply they lost an early wicket but then Pullen, 29, and Ian Sagar, 56, took the score to 87 before the inevitable batting collapse happened with Paul Tatterton, 17, the only other Silsden player to reach double figures as they were dismissed for 132-9. In the league on Saturday Skipton beat Collingham away by eight wickets to stay second in Division B, with Sean Atkinson hitting a magnificent unbeaten 144 off just 114 balls including two sixes and 22 fours.

On a fine windy day Chris Gott won the toss and put Collingham into bat on a flat-looking pitch. The Skipton bowlers struggled early on and Collingham got away to a great start, the usually reliable Mick Scott finding it very difficult bowling into a strong wind.

Australian Pete Francis made the first breakthrough by bowling David Holmes for 25 with the score at 31.

However Collingham batted consistently well throughout their innings, with top scorer being Tom Kilby who made 72 helped by four dropped catches and they ended on 244-6.

The pick of the Skipton bowlers was Gott although he finished wicketless with figures of 16-1-65-0. The other figures were Scott 16-2-81-3, Francis 14-2-61-1 and Matthew Taylor 4-0-33-0.

Skipton started poorly with Phil Pickles holing out to cover for a single. However from then on it was one-way traffic with Mark Whitaker and Atkinson taking advantage of the excellent conditions and some average bowling. They put on 133 for the second wicket before Whitaker was needlessly run out for 62 with the score at 142.

Atkinson continued to dominate the bowling and Gott, 30 not out, supported him to the end as Skipton reached their target with 13.2 overs left with 245-2.

The Collingham bowling figures were R Tovey 11-1-51-1, O Driver 9.4-1-50-0, P Smith 5-0-27-0, Holmes 5-0-44-0, C Marshall 2-0-25-0 and Kilby 5-0-40-0.
