BURLEY CC stalwart Tony Brook - still playing third team cricket for the club while his three sons enjoy first team success - linked up with his former school pal to meet Sir Gary Sobers in America.
Tony was invited to Philadelphia by John Crowther who he became friends with when the pair attended Aireborough Grammar School from 1954 to 1961. Former Menston man John, who has lived in the States for 25 years, asked Tony to go out and play in the 7th annual Philadelphia Cricket Tournament.
They played four games against sides from London, Toronto, Los Angeles and the Cayman Islands.
Although Tony enjoyed the social side and particularly meeting Sir Gary Sobers, the West Indian legend, and the man who Sobers once hit for six sixes in an over -Malcolm Nash, he said that the performance of his team was "rubbish".
The tournament is one of the biggest in America and it had Sir Gary and former Glamorgan bowler Nash as guests of honour.
