DESPITE some gloomy weather overhead Waddilove and Birtwhistle Cup ties were completed on Sunday and the line up for the third round, to be played on Sunday, June 20, is: Waddilove Cup - Otley v North Leeds, Burley v Steeton, Guiseley v Menston, Follifoot v Silsden.

Birtwhistle Cup - Knaresborough v Green Lane, Steeton v Alwoodley, Hall park v Guiseley, Follifoot v Adel.

In the Waddilove Cup Otley found some form to inflict the first defeat of the season on the rejuvenated Green Lane. Otley made 194-9 with David Taylor holding the innings together with a knock of 53 while Mark Wilkinson contributed 46 and Andy Chaplin produced some late runs with 26 to boost the score.

Australian James Prendergast then found top form with a 6-44 return to put Lane out for 132.

Skipton were unable to repeat their form of the previous day and went out to North Leeds who won by seven wickets thanks to some solid batting. Sean Atkinson followed his century of the previous day with a knock of 57 for Skipton.

Burley continued their rich seam with Nick Brook again among the wickets with a 5-29 haul off 16.3 overs as Bilton were put out for a modest 103. This posed no challenge to Duncan Hurd (50 no) and Richard Brook (38) and victory was gained in 33 overs.

Adel gained a 96 runs win over Silsden after making 228-6. Opener N Smith laid the foundations with a knock of 80 and was well supported by Ian Jones with 45, Brett Aldons with 44 and David Standring with 32.

Steady bowling then kept Silsden in check and they could only muster 134-9 with S Collins making a half-century.

In their re-played first round Birtwhistle Cup tie - they were rained off on the original date and then tied - Steeton finally overcame Addingham after making 235-4. G Boulton led the way with an unbeaten 85 and followed it up with a match winning 5-26 off 14 overs to complete a superb all-round performance. For Addingham P Rishworth top scored with an unbeaten 63.

Adel posted 254-5 against Silsden and they could only reply with 133 all out as R Edwards (3-22), J Shires (2-26) and N Johnson (2-10) took control. Some solid Adel batting was highlighted by an unbeaten 60 from Edwards.

Rawdon fell 14 runs short of the Knaresborough score of 175-5 succumbing to the excellent bowling of S Bridson who took 7-47 off 13 overs. Duncan Stow made 68 and David Bell 44 for Rawdon but their colleagues offered little or no support. For Knaresborough Chris Darley hit an unbeaten 73 and J Bell 56.

Otley fell for 95 as Green Lane's Andrew Powell produced a superb 7-42 return off 22 overs. Billy Cousins gave steady support with 1-21 off 14 overs and N Britton picked up 2-24. Lane then knocked off the runs for the loss of four wickets with Jamie Hunt doing his best to stop their victory charge with a 3-28 return.
