Steeton entertained Addingham in the first round of the Waddilove Cup on Sunday.
Summerhill captain Smith won the toss and asked the visitors to bat on a wicket which had been affected by overnight rain. Tight bowling was always going to be the key and it took its toll on the Addingham opening batsmen with the first thre wickets falling for 24 runs.
Opener Robinson tried to repair the damage with a positive 38, but after his wicket fell the visitors found runs hard to come by.
Wickets fell steadily with only the Addingham skipper, Wilkinson, getting into double figures with a patient 22. The Steeton fielding backed up the excellent bowling as Addingham were dismissed for 96. All four Steeton bowlers took wicketst.
When Steeton batted Addingham had the perfect start, capturing the first wicket with only two runs on the board.
Any early scares were then put beyond doubt when opener Newton, with a forceful 41, and Pinniger with a crafted 50 not out, steared Steeton to safety with 26 overs to spare.
Campbell was the pick of the Addingham bowlers with two wickets for 33 runs.
Silsden also secured their place in the second round with victory over Beckwithshaw.
Steve Walmsley opened the batting for Beckwithshaw and made an excellent 58 before being caught behind off the bowling of Dave Balluk. They had put on 43 for the first wicket and had reached 119 by the time Walmsley fell, but Balluk terrorised the home side, finishing with five for 36 off 11 overs.
Mark Akrigg's run out of K Barnes from mid-wicket finished Silsden's impressive fielding performance with Hugh Sugden and Dave Jackson picking up the fielding points for excellent catches to restrict them to 147.
Silsden reached 148 with 15 overs to go.
In-form David Jackson opened the batting and rattled up 58 not out, but early batters Sugden, Collins, Akrigg and Knowles failed to make an impression, although Andrew Pullen, who is in great free flowing form, crashed 45 not out off 33 balls.
