Haworth residents are being quizzed about several ideas to improve safety at the notorious Brow Top junction.
Traffic engineer Ken Greenwell outlined Bradford council's proposals to the 45 villagers who attended Haworth Neighbourhood Forum. Local people will also be able to examine plans in Haworth Tourist Information Centre and Keighley town hall before making comments.
Among the proposals are to move a 'stop' sign back to give more visibility and provide three priority build-outs to stop two-way traffic. Traffic lights were suggested by residents, who believed no accidents had happened when temporary lights were installed some time ago.
Mr Greenwell said there may be problems with installing permanent traffic lights due to the physical constraints of the area. He said such constraints at the junction, which is on a steep hill, had to be considered when the council's proposals were being studied.
Traffic engineers will look at the possibility of traffic lights before a final decision is made on safety measures. They will also investigate all suggestions made at the forum meeting.
Councillors have allocated money for the measures in this financial year.
