New bosses at Guiseley pram firm Silver Cross have written to 25 former employees offering them their jobs back.

If they accept, the move would bring the total number of employees at the firm up to 55.

And director Graham Hazell said there was "tremendous confidence" in the firm's products and people.

He said one of the first jobs was to deal with orders yet to be completed. "The absolute first priority is to deal with customer orders - and then we will look further ahead.

"Basically, we have an awful lot to learn about this business and this market. We have confidence in the market and the product."

He added: "There were 200 or 300 people working for the firm a few years ago. We have picked up a firm with 30 employees.

"We have offered them revised, we think improved, employment terms and have written to 25 people made redundant to offer them employment, so we will be back up to 55 people."

He said the new management team combined talents from different backgrounds with the aim of building on its reputation for quality and its worldwide fame.
