Yorkshire plunged to 29 for four as they made a dreadful start to their PPP healthcare County Championship match against Derbyshire today.
Derbyshire skipper Dominic Cork claimed three of the wickets. He removed Australian Greg Blewett and skipper David Byas within the space of five balls to start the slide and added the wicket of Michael Vaughan later.
With Matthew Wood being dismissed by Phil DeFreitas Yorkshire were left in dire straights.
Play was able to start on time following yesterday's washout and Derbyshire appeared to have made a shrewd moving in putting Yorkshire in to bat.
Blewett was off the mark with two from Cork's first ball of the match and Michael Vaughan also got moving in the same over which cost the Derbyshire captain five runs.
DeFreitas shared the new ball but it was Cork who quickly struck a double blow, firstly getting Blewett lbw for four as he pushed forward, so continuing the dismal start to his championship career which has now brought him 234 runs in 11 innings.
Then Byas chased a wide ball outside off-stump and edged a catch to wicketkeeper Steven Griffiths.
Wood was next in but he made only one before hitting DeFreitas to cover point where he was well caught by Michael Deane.
Anthony McGrath survived a loud appeal for a catch behind the wicket off his first ballbut Vaughan departed soon after.
