A father-of-two has lost his life four days after suffering serious head injuries in an incident in Skipton.

Trevor Capstick, 37, of Hawbank Court, Skipton, had undergone two operations and was on a life support machine in Leeds General Infirmary.

A North Yorkshire Police spokesman said: "Mr Capstick died last night in hospital. We cannot give details of his death at this stage.''

He was rushed to Airedale General Hospital at Steeton last Sunday after he was found lying in Greatwood Avenue, Skipton, with serious injuries.

Mr Capstick, who had been attacked and punched, had earlier been in the nearby Horse Close public house.

It is understood he was involved in an argument in the pub, although staff say they were unaware of any trouble.

His partner, Patricia Allen, who works at Johnson and Johnson in Gargrave, had kept a vigil at his bedside since he was admitted to hospital where his condition never improved from critical. Mr Capstick is separated from his wife.

Police are continuing to appeal for witnesses to the attack which happened at 6.45pm on Sunday or for anyone who may have information relevant to the incident. They should telephone 01756 793377.
