A REGULAR visitor to Menston Station must be a 'paw' traveller because he never puts a whisker beyond the ticket office, writes Vivienne Francis.
Felix the cat is only 'feline' happy when he is sitting behind the counter of the ticket office watching passers-by.
The ginger tom has become a familiar sight to commuters - putting in daily appearances since the station was refurbished.
The well-fed cat does have a home in the area - but he takes his duties as unofficial ticket officer very seriously.
Owner Dougie Scarfe, of Newfield Drive said: "He does go to the station a lot and he tends to come back home when the building is closed.
"We live in the old station master's house next door to the station so I suppose he thinks that it is only appropriate that he is the
station cat.
"He is a lovely cat. He is very independent and he likes to be sociable. He has a sister, Ellie, who is a lot shyer than Felix."
Richard Greenbank, who works at the internet shop, Passion, which is based in the station said: "He likes to sit on the other side of the window of the ticket office."
"He waits outside the door in the morning because he knows there's going to be someone here. He does live in the area he just frequents the station."
Karen Shipley, a spokeswoman for Northern Spirit said: "Menston Station appears to be a favourite haunt of the ginger cat better known to travellers as Felix.
"Passengers seem to have become rather fond of the friendly feline and the feeling appears to be mutual."
