Welcome to the first issue of the new millennium. I have to begin with an apology concerning the last issue of the 20th century.
For some reason, and I genuinely don't know why, we printed the incorrect page 3. Instead of the page planned we managed to publish page 3 from the previous Christmas Eve edition.
A number of the page folios had differing dates too.
I apologise to all concerned. I could have mentioned millennium bug, but that we be totally unfair.
I think it was more a case of being bugged by the millennium.
Now it is time to look to the future and begin implementing our strategy for 2000. One of the items we are aiming to achieve before the end of this month is to refresh and update our website more quickly.
I have to confess I don't know the full technicalities of how it is done - but another department uploads our stories onto our website.
They are now writing a programme which will allow us to do it ourselves from the offices in North Street.
We all believe this is an important step to take, because now we have so many former Keighley people keeping in touch with their home town through their computers.
We know we had several people visiting the site over the Christmas/New Year period from Australia.
In between sending greetings to all in Keighley, one 'surfer' asked if I was related to a Mrs Hoddy who taught at Holy Family School some years ago. I am not.
Converted for the new archive on 30 June 2000. Some images and formatting may have been lost in the conversion.
