Keighley 12
Ilkley 14
ILKLEY notched a fine win at Keighley on Monday as they bridged the three division gap.
Ilkley were always ahead scoring two converted tries to Keighley's two tries and a conversion.
The Yorkshire Division One club's first score came from an open side break from a scrum by their skipper Michael Carr and he then added the conversion.
Keighley hit back with a try from full-back Gary Davey following a 30 yard break by Peter Lee-Gallon.
Before the break Ilkley managed a pushover try from Carr and he again converted to give his side a 14-5 lead.
The only score of the second-half came when Keighley lock Peter Southgate touched down following a set piece tap penalty move.
After a drive the ball was set again and Southgate broke through two tackles to score. Matt Gaffney added the conversion to put his side within two points of Ilkley.
Keighley then lost prop Tyrone Adam with an ankle injury but his fellow South African Duane Wallis was impressive at flanker.
