A pregnant mother-of-three struck down with cancer is appealing for a nanny from the city to help look after her children when she's in hospital.

Sally-Ann Tester, formerly of Scholes, near Bradford, was diagnosed with leukaemia last August during a routine check-up in the early stages of her pregnancy.

Mrs Tester, who now lives in Georgia, America, is awaiting a vital bone-marrow transplant - using marrow donated by her brother - which she hopes will take place in May this year.

Now she is appealing for someone from Bradford to act as a nanny for her four children while she is being treated.

Speaking from America, Mrs Tester said: "The doctors have told me I'll need a mother's help because I'm going to be pretty sick while I'm having the transplant and afterwards.

"My mum's coming over to see me, but she won't be able to look after the children on her own, so ideally I'd like someone from the Bradford area to come across and help out."

Mrs Tester met her American husband Denny while working as a cocktail waitress at the former Norfolk Gardens Hotel, Bradford - now the Stakis Hotel - where he was staying on business. She moved from Scholes to join him in America and they married two years later in 1991.

Despite her illness, Mrs Tester says her unborn baby is healthy and will be delivered by Caesarean Section a month premature.

Anyone who can help out should contact Mrs Tester by calling the BT operator on 0800 890222 and asking for a collect call to Sally Ann or Denny on 001 706 663 4237.
