Marie Curie Cancer Care's fundraising team has pledged to redouble its efforts to complete the £5.2 million appeal to build Europe's most modern hospice in Bradford.

Fundraisers promised that the appeal, now at just over £3 million, will be completed by the time the centre opens in 12 months.

As well as fundraising events locally, supporters will have the opportunity to travel the world in their efforts to raise money, with bike rides in California and Vietnam.

Supporters are being urged to help by running this year's London Marathon or the Great North Run or take part in the Three Peaks Walk. And teams are being recruited to accept a Krypton Factor challenge in July.

Closer to home, Bradford people are being encouraged to enter the second Annual Indoor Rowing Challenge at the Marriott Hollins Hall Hotel, Baildon, on February 26 and 27.

March will also see the charity organising collections for its Daffodil Campaign, as well as the Daffodil Bal, at The Cedar Court Hotel.

Brian Curran, Marie Curie Cancer Care fundraiser, said: "The next few months are crucial. I urge as many people as possible to contact me to discuss ways they can get involved."

He can be contacted on Bradford 780606.
