There are a number of players with Sheffield Wednesday connections at Valley Parade, but no one has a greater incentive to do well at Hillsborough tomorrow than goalkeeper Matt Clarke.

It's a clear case of Wednesday's loss being City's gain for Clarke' s form has been a revelation since he took his chance at the beginning of November when No 1 keeper Gary Walsh went down with flu and then had a knee operation.

In a little over two months, Clarke has established himself as one of the top goalkeepers in the Premiership and nothing would please him better than to do well on his return to Hillsborough tomorrow.

The 26-year-old keeper who played first football as a teenager with Rotherham before moving to Wednesday made only four first team appearances in three years at Hillsborough, but he has no regrets about his spell there.

He said: "I learned a lot from Wednesday's goalkeeping coach Martin Hodge so it wasn't totally wasted.

"When I first moved there I was raw, but working with Martin Hodge was top class and may be I am benefiting from that now.

"People talk about wanting to play against Manchester United and Everton, but I would love to go back to Hillsborough and keep a clean sheet. I don't mind how we do it so long as we get three points there."

Other former Wednesday players on City's staff are defender David Wetherall who is returning to the team after serving a one match suspension and left back Wayne Jacobs while midfield player Neil Redfearn played under manager Danny Wilson at Barnsley.

How Wednesday must regret allowing Wetherall to leave for, he had a fine career with Leeds United after moving from Hillsborough and he has been a model of consistency since joining City from Elland Road in a record £1.4 million deal.
