Otley TOWN 1
Rawdon OB 1
OTLEY Town had to settle for a point when they entertained local rivals Rawdon Old Boys in this West Riding County Amateur League Division One clash at The Old Showfield.
It was a good point for the Old Boys who are currently second from the bottom of the table.
Former Town player Chris Farnell shocked Town by opening the scoring for the Old Boys but Town levelled through Ross Baron.
Second placed Stump Cross narrowed the gap to four points behind Town after their 4-1 home win over Farnley.
Menston U-11s..........1
Otley T U-11s............1
OTLEY Town Under-11s were away to local rivals Menston for their first game of the Millennium. After a four-week lay-off, due to bad weather and the Christmas holidays, it was always going to be a tough game.
In the first ten minutes Menston showed they were up for the challenge of beating Town. Their forwards were a lot more physical in the tackle and on 16 minutes they took the lead. A long throw into Town's penalty area wasn't cleared and a low drive beat Nathan Elliott in the Otley goal.
Sam Webster and James Hayward responded positively by driving forward at every opportunity and it wasn't long before Town was back on level terms.
Richard Robinson was released on the right and hitting what looked like a deep cross, found the back of the net. Menston's heads didn't drop, and only some excellent 'keeping from Nathan Elliott kept it all square by the interval.
Ten minutes into the second-half, Karl Waring replaced Adam Mudd in Town's midfield. The fresh legs paid off and Otley had their best spell of possession, which resulted in what looked like a good claim for a penalty being turned down.
The final minutes of the game found the Town's defence at full stretch with Nathan Elliott making a string of excellent stops. The final whistle brought a round of applause from all those watching, they had witnessed a good game of football with a draw being a fair result.
Town's Man-of-the-Match was Nathan Elliott for his good goalkeeping and concentration.
Kelly hat-trick
as Yew Tree win cup tie
BEDALE TOWN RES...3 YEW TREE..................6
YEW Tree made the long trip up the A1 to play Bedale in the Harrogate League Medal Competition and were in very determined mood.
They were however immediately under pressure from the Division One side who took the lead mid-way through the first-half when Jim Braithwaite rifled in a 30 yarder which 'keeper Anthony Kirk had no chance of stopping.
This seemed to stir Yew Tree into action and they equalised through Ben Kelly after good skills from Andrew Jackson.
Yew Tree then added a second from the penalty spot through Jeff Wilaby after Steve Richmond had been upended. Excellent play from Stuart Thompson and Mark Healeas allowed Steve Richmond to add the third just before half-time leaving Yew Tree in a comfortable position.
Bedale applied pressure at the start of the second-half but could not find a way past the rearguard of Wrigglesworth, Pollard, Sharp and Haddock. A super strike from Ben Kelly virtually sealed the game and steadied the Yew Tree nerves and this was followed by a goal from full-back Alan Wrigglesworth who continues his excellent goalscoring form.
Kelly completed his hat-trick with ten minutes to go after excellent work by Tim Armitage. Yew Tree then became extremely complacent and allowed Bedale to add two consolation goals in the dying minutes.
Match point went to Tony Morrell for a spirited performance.
