Thieves are ransacking churches in Keighley and Silsden in search of charity cash.
They have raided six churches since January 1 and either smashed open collection boxes to steal money or taken the entire box.
A police spokesman said considerable damage and disruption had also been caused as the burglars searched the churches.
The crime wave began on the night of January 1 at St Anne's RC Church, North Street, then thieves moved on to Christ Church, Oakworth (January 1 or 2), St Joseph's RC Church, Ingrow (3), St Andrew's Parish Church, Keighley (3), St James's Parish Church, Silsden (5) and Our Lady of Mount Carmel, Silsden (5).
Anyone who can offer police information about the thefts should phone 617059 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
