Ilkley'S Rebecca West will be the star attraction at a premiere to be hosted by the world's most famous cinema.
The former Ilkley Grammar School pupil, will make history she marries Brett Taylor at London's Odeon cinema in Leicester Square on Saturday January 22.
Rebecca, 31, and Brett, 32, have been chosen as the first couple to tie the knot at the cinema, which regularly hosts film premieres attended by a galaxy of stars.
However, the stars of the show on January 22 will be the bride and bridegroom respectively as they exchange their vows in front of a packed cinema congregation.
Rebecca, a manager with Penguin Books in London, said the couple were both keen film buffs and had jumped at the chance to make cinema history.
She spotted an Odeon advert in a magazine, asking for potential couples to consider the cinema as the setting for their special day.
"I spoke to Brett and said we've just got to do this. That was August/September time and we were delighted in November when we found out we had been chosen," she said.
Rebecca said: "The initial reaction from people was to burst out laughing and ask us if we were mad. But everyone is really
looking forward to it now.
"It's not quite as barmy as it might sound. As well as Brett and I being regular cinema-goers, my grandfather was very involved with cinema and I have actually worked as an usherette at Bradford Film Theatre," she said.
While the cinema has welcomed numerous Hollywood stars over the years, Rebecca has not invited any of them to the wedding.
However, the event will be graced by one of the film
industry's top stars - but only after the wedding.
Rebecca joked: "I am known as Rebecca or Beccy but my christian name is actually Elizabeth. If you look at Brett's surname, then
technically I will be Elizabeth Taylor after the service."
In true cinema tradition, a champagne and popcorn
reception will be held following the service.
The couple have been together for about three years and although Rebecca admits the wedding is likely to attract attention, it will be a tasteful affair.
"You certainly won't see us
sitting on thrones like David Beckham and Posh Spice did at their wedding," she said.
Rebecca has had plenty of preparation for the media exposure she will face on her big day. She lives in Notting Hill, the setting for last year's hit film starring Hugh Grant and Julia Roberts.
"It will certainly be an occasion to remember," she said.
The bride will walk down the aisle to music from the cinema's original 1930 organ which will rise from the floor as she arrives.
Music to be played includes the James Bond theme music and the Twentieth Century Fox fanfare.
The cinema screen will be used as a backdrop for the exchange of the vows and will show excerpts from the couple's chosen film, Cinema Paradiso.
Rebecca's father, Peter, said: "I am really looking forward to it. As for the venue, as long as two people make a promise to each other that is all that matters."
