Rod Robertson led the way with a scintillating full house for Junction Mills at home to Johnson & Johnson in the Keighley & District Table Tennis League.
The reigning Keighley Singles Champion was unstoppable against John Pullen 21-15, 21-16, got the better of Alan Ripley 21-11, 21-10 and finally edged out Derek Stanforth 22-20, 21-11. Pullen grabbed a couple for the visitors, 17-21, 21-17, 21-16 against Jim Lister and 21-18, 21-12 against Matthew Lister but with their only other point coming from a doubles win as J & J slumped to a 7-3 defeat.
Second Division Champions Oakworth seem to be acclimatising to the First Division, winning 6-4 at home to Nemesis. Ben Lowe was in a rich form completely demolishing an opposition that included the experienced duet of Peter Eastaugh (21-18, 21-10) and Pete Worger (21-12, 21-16). Steve Busfield provided solid support with his couple including a 21-19, 21-18 win against Worger and Steve Smith added another, defeating Allan Miles Turner 23-21, 23-21.
Eastaugh hit back for the visitors with a pair against Smith (21-18, 21-16) and Busfield (21-17, 21-19) but it was not enough to halt Oakworth's 6-4 victory charge.
In the Second Division Lothersdale 'B' enhanced their promotion chances with an emphatic 8-2 success at The Bhoys who, unlike their Scottish footballing namesakes, are floundering at the wrong end of the table. As in the team's previous encounter this season it was Lothersdale's most consistent player Pete Midgley leading the charge with a superb treble that included the 20-22, 21-19, 21-12 defeat of John McPherson.
Martin Connolly was stopped from emulating his team mate by a determined Mark Deacon 21-16, 18-21, 21-16 who also prevented an Edgar Klava full house 21-15, 27-25.
Evenly matched Cononley Sports and Nelson 'B' ended their encounter with the honours shared following an evening of character and never say die determination from all concerned. The pattern was set from the very first set which saw Phil Scarr just pip Andy Allott 21-14, 13-21, 24-22. Following this Tom Lacey managed to edge out Eric Hudson 19-21, 21-12, 21-13 to put Nelson level only for the unlucky Bill Mitchell to slip up 21-14, 16-21, 21-16 against Scarr before Allott redressed the balance 16-21, 21-8, 25-23 against Stuart Maude.
A tremendous match culminated in a 21-16, 21-14 doubles win for Allott and Lacey against Scarr and Hudson to leave the scores tied at 5-5.
In Division Three Oakbank Juniors pressed their claims for the title with two excellent victories against Central and Ilkley Road 'B'. Katie Lightowler was the star against Central with a hard fought treble that included a 21-11, 17-21 21-18 win against Azeem Khan.
Abid Hussain managed a couple for the youth club team but it wasn't enough to stop Oakbank from rattling up a 7-3 victory followed by an even more emphatic 9-1 win at home to Ilkley Road 'B'. This time Gareth Wiles and Sam Fuller took the eye with faultless displays, the only point for the visitors coming from a 21-18, 21-15 Chris Gill victory against Lightowler.
