Keighley Shamrocks continued their challenge for promotion with a 2-1 derby victory over Steeton with goals from Nicky Gilbert and Mark Price.
The South Craven side are find the going tough this season, but it was an important win for Shamrocks who were determined to get the new year off to a bright start. Despite the long lay-off Shamrocks played some neat football and could have scored more.
n Keighley Shamrocks Reserves got the New Year of to good start with a 1-0 win at Dudley Hill. D Contren scored a superb goal to clinch the match, but his side missed a hat full of chances in the first half. After the break the Keighley side continued the push forward, but were nearly caught out as Dudley Hill broke through but S Dovenor pulled off an outstanding save to give Shamrocks the points and put them back in the promotion hunt. Adam Fradley and Dean Contren starred for Shamrocks.
